I Wish I Had These Sooner

My mother-in-law bought us these Safety 1st Booster Seats to use at her house and down at the cabin, and I absolutely love them! I wish I had these at home instead of the bulky high chairs.
The booster seat is simple to assemble and comes with a seat belt and two straps that secure around the seat of the chair and around the back of the chair. The tray swings out allowing you to put your child in the seat, and then snaps into place on the side. Once the child out grows the tray, it’s removable so that your child can sit up at the table.
I have read several bad customer reviews on these booster seats. Some were saying the tray came off easily and that the straps did not stay securely in place. I’ve been using these for a week now and have had absolutely no problems. I made sure the straps were snugly in place and they haven’t moved or loosened so far. I have a feeling Safety 1st might have made some improvements to the seat because mine do not look exactly like the one pictured, although they are very close.
The only downfall I see with these booster seats is that if you have a larger than average baby then they might out grow the the tray quickly. Although my girls fit into these nicely right now, I can see where many moms would be frustrated with the lack of space between the back of the seat and the tray.
Overall, I love these little booster seats. They are very light weight and I’m considering taking them with us next time we go out to eat. They are much more functional than the typical restaurant high chair, and the bottom of the seat has rubber grips so I imagine it would work nicely in a booth as well.

A Summer Must Have

I purchased this wagon last week because I needed something to use to take the girls from the cabin up to Grandma’s house. I tried using their stroller but it didn’t work too well - the wheels definitely were not made to go off road! The Radio Flyer Deluxe Family Wagon was exactly what I was looking for. There are so many different ways you can use this wagon! It has two seats with seat belts, cup holders for the kids and the parents, a parent storage area, and plenty of foot room. This model comes with a canopy to provide shade while you’re out in the sun, although they do sell the same wagon without the canopy as well. You can position the seats to face each other or have them both facing forward. You also have the option to lay both seats down so that one child can lay down in the wagon, or you can have one seat up and the other down to use as a table for the child (this also creates a big storage area under the table).
The suggested age for this wagon is over 1.5 years but my 13 month olds fit in it very nicely. Their feet don’t quite touch the floor of the wagon yet, but they still were able to ride securely. I can imagine we’re going to get a lot of use out of this wagon! It will be perfect for trips to the park, zoo, etc. and is so much more convenient to use than the double stroller. The wheels on the wagon are rubber which, according to my hubby, will make them last a lot longer than the plastic wheels on the stroller.
I have no complaints about this purchase. It was worth every penny and I recommend it to anyone with a small child (or two).

Playtex VentAire Advanced Bottles

Being a mother of twins, I have gone through my share of bottles. When looking for the perfect bottle, I wanted ones that didn’t have too many inner pieces that are hard to get clean. I wanted them to be simple, but also help protect my preemies sensitive tummies. I started out using Dr. Browns bottles but I didn’t like the inner tube piece because I didn’t feel like it was getting clean enough in the dishwasher, and with two little ones, I didn’t have time to wash that many bottles by hand every day. In the beginning we went through 16 bottles per day!
We also tried the Avent bottles but the girls didn’t like the nipples as much. So finally we tried the Playtex VentAire bottles. They worked great! All the pieces are easy to toss in the top rack of the dishwasher and they really helped reduce gas. I also liked these bottles because they had the X shape hole in the nipple instead of the pin hole. My girls like to toss their bottles around and the X shape would prevent the bottle from leaking milk out if the bottle got turned upside down.
This week I needed to purchase some new bottles because I noticed some cracks in the old ones. Probably from the constant use and putting them in the dishwasher. They lasted a very long time before needing to be replaced. Anyhow, I picked up a new set of the Playtex VentAire Advanced bottles. Playtex has made some design changes to their VentAire bottles, and I have to say, I am not as happy with the new design as I was with the old one. They have made some minor changes, most noticeably the nipple. They have switched to the pin hole nipples and got rid of the X hole nipples. You can’t even buy the replacement nipples that have the X in the top. This is quite irritating for me. Also, the bottom part that has tiny holes to vent the air out has been slightly tweaked and seems to leak much more frequently than the previous design. You have to get the bottom pieces together just right and they cannot be even a little damp from washing or it will leak.
So, overall, Playtex VentAire is still my bottle of choice. I have yet to find another bottle that works as well as these do. I’m just left wondering why the design changes were made. Why change a good thing, ya know? If it’s not broken, don’t fix it.

movie tickets

My husband and I love going to the movies. You might say it’s our “thing”. We don’t get to go as much lately since the girls don’t want to sit still for long periods of time, so when we do get to go now it’s always extra special. It feels more like a reward going to the movies these days than just a “hey we’re bored, let see a movie” kind of thing.
Usually when we go to the movies we pay at the “do-it-yourself” thingy at the theatre and that’s that. We’ve never really purchased movie tickets online before, which is kind of odd since we do pretty much everything else online. Well, that was until we found movietickets.com. The membership there is free, and of course you can do all sorts of things movie related like find showtimes, purchase tickets, etc. But, my favorite part of having a membership there is that you often get the chance to go to the movies for free. Free movies? Skip paying $9 per ticket? Sign me up!
We recently got an offer to go to a screening for the new movie 21, which starts March 28th. We had other plans that night so unfortunately we had to skip it, but last week we got another offer to go to a movie screening. This one sounds very exciting because we do not know what movie we are seeing, or who is in it. It’s all confidential. The only bummer is that we aren’t even allowed to talk about the movie after we see it. The screening is tomorrow night and all we know so far is that we will be screening “a major new motion picture being released this Summer”. Afterwards we will be doing some kind of feedback on the movie, we aren’t sure yet if it will be a survey type thing or what. All I know is that I’m super excited!
So, if you’re like us and you love movies and anything free, then sign up!
